Andy Munyiri tops in KCPE as Magoha schedules 2/12/2019 for placement

A total of 1,083,456 candidates sat the 2019 KCPE examination, an increase from 1,052, 344  candidates in 2018, the Ministry of Education has said. Of these, 543,582 (50.17%) were boys and 539,874 (49.82%) girls. Speaking during the release of KCPE results at the KNEC headquarters on Monday, Education CS George Magoha said Nairobi, Kakamega and Nakuru counties registered the highest candidature respectively. Nairobi had 62,498 candidates followed by  Kakamega with 54,311 and Nakuru 53,225. Counties with the lowest candidature were: Lamu (2,959), Isiolo (3,454) and Samburu (4,793). BEST CANDIDATES The top candidate in the country was Andy Michael Munyiri of Damacrest Schools, Thogoto, with 440 marks. Three candidates tied in the second position, two of them girls from public schools. KNEC- How to verify and correct errors on the 2019 KCPE, KCSE candidates’ registration data.

The registration of the 2019 KCPE and KCSE candidates ended on Friday 15lh February, 2019 .  There after the process of verification of the candidates’ details commences immediately. According to KNEC, Verification of registration data will take place between 18th and 28th February, 2019 . The candidates, parents and guardians are required to verify the accuracy of registration details online by  sending the candidate’s index number via SMS to 20076 . The SMS system has been activated on Saturday; 16th February, 2019 and candidates are encouraged to take advantage of the system to confirm their registration status online. The Kenya National Examinations Council officers will be visiting all the Sub counties between 24th February, and 2nd March 2019 to sensitize the heads of institutions on issues relating to registration of candidates. List of Fake Degree Courses Rejected by CUE

The Commission for University Education (CUE) has rejected 133 courses offered in more than 20 Kenyan universities for being useless, shallow in scope, and unmarketable. This means that approximately 10,000 students absorbed in the various universities might be forced to discontinue the courses, and the academic papers for those who have already graduated may not be recognized by prospective employers. The commission is supposed to approve the various courses offered by Kenyan universities, however, the 133 identified have been termed as a way of making money with no career prospects. The findings follow a CUE audit of the Kenyan universities carried out in 2018 in readiness for the 2019 placement. According to the report, it was noted that many universities seem concerned about huge enrollment, and have given inaccurate details about their actual capacity, their resources, and the teaching staff solely for the purposes of minting cash.
